Howard Dean Is Excited About His Colbert Report Viral Video

POSTED BY: Matt Tobey

Governor Howard Dean taped a web-exclusive video backstage at The Colbert Report recently, and it's going to be huge. It's going to be more viral than Keyboard Cat and SARS combined.

When you woke up this morning, you might have thought this could be the day you see Howard Dean name-drop Digg.

Certainly you may have wondered if this would possibly be the day he shouts out Boing Boing or Videogum or Nah Right.

But I'll bet dollars to donuts, you didn't guess you'd hear Howard Dean utter the words "Street Boners and TV Carnage" today. I always thought that would happen on a Tuesday.

The Colbert Report airs Monday through Thursday at 11:30pm / 10:30c.

LAST COMMENT:

SO WHAT? What anti-American Obamabot wouldn't push digg like a well programmed drone? Digg is every Obamabot's home, robot factory, bullshit cauldron, so why even pretend to act surprised about Dean's attempt to give digg head? Nobody believes digg's bullshit sales pitches anymore; look at Google Trends -- digg users have been dropping like flies since mid 2007, probably due to the fact digg steals user submissions [to make posters like MrBabyMan popular] and bans users [for speaking against Obama]. ATTN. ANTI-AMERICAN OBAMABOTS: DIGG IS DEAD, AND ALL OF YOU HELPED KILL IT. The next in line to rot: Twitter! ...not only because Twitter is fucking retarded beyond belief, but because digg is ANOTHER home for yuppie Obamabots -- hooray!

Fourth of July weekend is now over, and this year's fireworks mishaps are but a distant memory. But just because your thumbs have been reattached and you've been discharged from the ICU doesn't mean the patriotic fun has to end just yet. Let's keep the party going with this collection of The Colbert Report's best America moments.

Colbert on the Clinton Curse

POSTED BY: Matt Tobey

It turns out Mark Sanford is just the latest in a long line of victims of the so-called Clinton Curse. I wasn't aware of that one, but I did hear about this guy down in Texas who picked up a woman in a bar and took her to a motel. The next morning, he woke up in a bathtub full of ice and on the bathroom mirror, scrawled in lipstick was, "WELCOME TO THE GOP." Ooh, just gave myself chills.

Al Franken Brings Dems Closer to Coveted Super-Duper Majority

POSTED BY: Matt Tobey

Now that Al Franken is a Senator, everyone is expecting him to bring some much-needed laughter to the halls of Congress. But let's not forget that there's more to Al Franken than comedy. He also wrote When a Man Love a Woman, so he might also tear the Senate apart with his out-of-control drinking.

The Colbert Report's take on Franken's victory can be found after the jump.

The Daily Show and Colbert Report air Monday through Thursday starting at 11pm / 10c.

Norm Coleman Was Forced to Cave to Pressure from Big Democracy

POSTED BY: Dennis DiClaudio

Stephen breaks the bad news about the soon-to-be Senator Al Franken to his audience, which — clearly distraught — immediately begins its mourning process by vigorously slapping its hands together and howling at the top of its lungs…

The Al Franken Interviews

POSTED BY: Dennis DiClaudio

In honor of Al Franken being the first-ever person elected to a six-year term in the legislative branch of the federal government whom we've also seen perform opposite a gorilla in a major motion picture (close but no cigar, Debbie Stabenow), here's six years worth of Daily Show and Colbert Report interviews with the distinguished gentleman from Minnesota…

Colbert Joins the GOP's War on the Census

POSTED BY: Matt Tobey

I've never understood why we need to spend so many valuable resources on a census, when an educated guesstimate would do the trick. For example, the house I'm in right now has 1500 square feet and three people in it, which means there's one person for every 500 square feet. The United States has 103,671,742,065,706 square feet, so we can safely guesstimate that there are 207 billion people in the US, give or take. You're welcome.

Stephen and Kevin, I'll assume you are not constitutional lawyers. Sandra Day O'Connor is (or was), and at the top of the heap as an associate justice of the U.S. Supreme Court. She says in her majority opinion in the 1999 case Department of Commerce that the census is the linchpin of the federal govt's statistics on indiduals, households, etc. Nothing about it's being unconstitutional. This has not been overruled, so it stands as good law today. From the very first Census, questions in addition to the number of people in the household were asked by the Census, and correct me if I'm wrong, but it's never been ruled unconstitutional. O'Connor graduated magna cum laude from Stamford University, and made law review and was third in her class at Stamford Law School while zipping through in two years rather than the required three. Who am I to assume possesses the best credentials to say what's unconstitutional, you or her.

The Daily Show and Colbert's Best Bernie Madoff Moments

POSTED BY: Matt Tobey

As you may have heard, 71-year-old financial schemer Bernie Madoff was sentenced to 150 years in a minimum security prison today. Which, I guess is sort of a silver lining for him. The jury found him guilty, but they also found him virile enough to live past 220. Anyway, here are The Daily Show and Colbert Report's best Madoff-related segments.

More after the jump.

The Daily Show and Colbert Report air Monday through Thursday starting at 11pm / 10c.

Colbert: Obama Is Giving Gays Things, Just Not Rights

POSTED BY: Matt Tobey

In his first five months as President, Barack Obama has done an admittedly poor job of keeping his campaign promises to supporters of gay rights. But the dude has a lot on his plate. I'm sure as soon as he's done shipping us all to our gulags and making Islam the national religion, he'll get right on repealing DOMA and Don't Ask, Don't Tell.

When Stephen Colbert Better-Knowed Mark Sanford

POSTED BY: Matt Tobey

After yesterday's press conference, we all now know South Carolina Governor Mark Sanford a lot better. I feel like I know him better than I know my own wife. I certainly don't know how many Argentine women she's slept with. Of course, Stephen Colbert was way ahead of the curve. As you'll see in this clip, he was better-knowing Mark Sanford long before it was hip. And after the jump, you can see the full 2008 interview.

The Colbert Report airs Monday through Thursday at 11:30pm / 10:30c.
