  2. I vote for the retired greyhounds . They are great family dogs!

  3. If the Obamas want a dog that is hypallergenic, and that can act as a companion/guardian, they should get a rescued dachshund! Yeah, dachshunds are "half a dog short, twice a dog long", but they're fiercely protective of their humans and home. Love the debate!! Cooper is a good sport!

  4. The choice should be a Shih Tzu from the rescue people. IN any event I know that Obama is levelheaded and smart to get the right dog for his daughters regardless of what the public thinks

  5. The first puppy candidate is really bringing in some 'uproar', not just to the first family and the white house but to the whole nation…This video is really funny and it excites everyone..lol! I found a similar video just like this one http://www.obama-dog.com/blog/2009/01/puppydential-debate.html..lots of chuckles there.

  6. I've got a rescued 18 month old Yellow(Cream) Lab. She is goofy as hell, loving to no end and very intellegent, just what the White House needs. Go for the Lab!

  7. That's just adorable. Now ask Jon Stewart if he's going to wait for the president of Iran to become the next Adolf Hitler before he stops feeling sorry for the Palestinians.

  8. This is one of the funniest things I have seen–Kudos to Anderson Cooper for being some a 'dog-gone' terrific moderator!

  9. Good stuff.

@ Kvetch: you shoulda worked for the Bush administration. You've got the trifecta of prerequisite skills: a gift for conflation, ability to employ hyperbolic fear tactics, and an awareness of the past 50 years of history that's so selective as to border on outright fiction. Maybe you should run in '12.

  10. Sorry about the typo–it should have read 'SUCH' a dog-gone, not 'some'
