Okay folks. Hands up if you're attending Barack Obama's $100 Lipstick, Laughter and Libations fundraiser next Tuesday in Washington, DC. Sounds great, right? They had me at "lipstick."

Unfortunately, Louisiana Senator Mary Landrieu is no longer hosting the event. It seems as though the senator, who needs a big chunk of the "white" vote to win in Louisiana, no longer wants her name attached to the "girls night out" for some reason…

Landrieu… must attract support from moderate white voters, especially Democrats who often vote Republican in federal elections. So she must avoid appearing tied to Obama…

Maybe it's the Hope talking here, but I believe there will be a day when Louisiana whites will embrace lipstick fundraisers, even if it requires dispatching the National Guard. Heck, they've already come around on laughter in recent years, and they might be the country's leading authority on libations.

Mark my words. In our lifetimes, the South will come full circle on lipstick fundraisers.

Remember: There was once a time this region discriminated against black people!
