Barack Obama's Faith Based Ass Kissing Program
Looks like Barack Obama is attempting to capture some of the voting block that propelled George W. Bush into the White House eight years ago…
Reaching out to evangelical voters, Democratic presidential candidate Barack Obama is announcing plans that would expand President Bush's program steering federal social service dollars to religious groups and — in a move sure to cause controversy — support their ability to hire and fire based on faith.
This is bullshit! Why is Obama pandering to these people? I don't want my tax money going to groups that center their belief systems around magical thinking and fictional superheros who live in the sky! This is exactly the kind of nonsense that has made the past seven years so unbearable. I just think think that–
Excuse me. I'm being called into my boss' office. I'll finish this post in a minute…
I'm back. Where was I? Oh yeah, I was discussing Barack Obama's wonderful idea of reaching out to the good people of the religiously upright moral community. Good for you, Mr. Obama!
And may all of our God fearing readers and their heterosexual friends be forever washed in the blood of the Lamb.
Amen.
Update: From the Huffington Post…
An Obama campaign official told the Huffington Post that the AP's claims about Obama allowing hiring or firing based on faith are false. From a portion of Obama's speech today:
"Now, make no mistake, as someone who used to teach constitutional law, I believe deeply in the separation of church and state, but I don't believe this partnership will endanger that idea — so long as we follow a few basic principles. First, if you get a federal grant, you can't use that grant money to proselytize to the people you help and you can't discriminate against them — or against the people you hire — on the basis of their religion. Second, federal dollars that go directly to churches, temples, and mosques can only be used on secular programs. And we'll also ensure that taxpayer dollars only go to those programs that actually work."
Does this mean that I can go back to worshipping Superman? (Well… Super-Horse, actually. It's just how I was raised.)

Change you can bereave in.
Amen Paulie, a "change we can predict!"
Anything but public campaign finance, I guess!
What Obama evidently wants is federally funded, federally monitored religion. That's not separation of church and state. It's closer to a power play on the part of the state to get deeper into the religion business. Scary, I know, but if they feed it to us in small enough bites, we'll swallow it.
WOW!! Those John Wayne types over at Dame Huffington's place are throwing an absolute hissy fit. They're all googling Thomas Jefferson quotes to show how Obama is betraying the Founding Fathers.
Do you think he disagrees with Jefferson on wheather or not the federal government can abolish slavery?
NAH! They would simply die if they heard that.
obama is EXACTLY like every politician that has come before him…he is an asshole, albeit a very bright one. he will pander, anytime, anywhere, to anyone, to get what he wants. and he wants to be the decider.
ah. yah. you just described men as men want to be described. Got anything new for me that I can actually comment on?
I hate faith more than anyone I know, but I would do the same thing.
Obama can score a few points with young evangelicals, help people who genuinely need it, and reform the program Bush started; all for the price of making funds available to faith-based charities, funds that were already available to secular charities.
I personally don't agree with the beliefs of "The Salvation Army", but they do more for the homeless in my area than anyone. I don't see how giving them an equal opportunity for federal funds would violate the seperation of church and state.
Let people go ahead and myopically google Jefferson. Ask his descendants whom they are voting for.
12 steps is a "faith based" program. I'm sure Cubby has heard of them.
I'd rather spend the money on church groups than uncaring government bureaucrats. Church groups spend less money on office decoration ~ have you seen those basements?
"What's everyone so upset about? It's still early in the campaign, and as you can see by a few of his earlier promises Barrack is learning the fine art of the flip-flop just fine. He has plenty of time to change his mind. Heck ,I heard he is getting private tutoring from John Kerry, so don't worry.
